Holy Cross Family Ministries Kampala region on 11th /July/ 2015, participated in the inter-Secondary Schools Prayer Day at Kyambogo college school Kampala.
This prayer day is organized by the Kampala Youth Charismatic Ministry, it happens every term from different venues as agreed by the organizing committee.
About 400 students from different secondary schools with in Kampala gathered to pray.
Students during the prayer moment at the inter-secondary school day at Kyambogo.
The theme of the day was ‘’For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong’’. (2 Corinthians 12:10).
Many youth are faced with challenges and as a result, some people actually define them as the challenges adolescents go through.
This is the reason why Kampala youth charismatic Ministry team thought it wise to conduct a prayer day for youth to encounter Christ and know that he cares no matter how big the challenges.
We began the day with a session of praise and worship thereafter, students recited the Holy Rosary and then a talk was given basing on the theme of the day.
During counseling and guidance we realized that parents are causing a lot of emotional damage to their children by the way they conduct towards them. We also realized that in schools due to materialism and exposer students go astray.
As Holy Cross Family Ministries, we encourage Christians to read Romans 12:2 “Do not conform your selves to the standards of this world but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of mind then you will be able to know the will of God, What is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.
Adoration, healing of the inner wound was also part of the prayer day.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Chaplain of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Rev. Fr. Bwanika Ronald who in his homily talked about St. Augustine, who in his youth stage faced the same challenges youth today face.
From the confessions of St. Augustine, ‘’our hearts are restless until they rest in you’’, Fr. Ronald appealed the youth to put more trust in God no matter the challenges they go through.
Fr. Ronald encouraged the students to do self-refection in their lives, to know their weaknesses and pray about them. Furthermore he requested them to be focused on their dreams and what they want to be and pray daily about it.
According to the organizing committee, the next Inter-Secondary Schools Prayer day will be at Our Lady of Good Counsel Gayaza and they promised to invite HolyCross Family Ministries again come next term because of the great spiritual input we impart in students.
