Meet Veronica who tries so hard to make ends meet for her family.

In our home visit programme this week, we visited Veronica Sanyu, a mother of 6 at her home in Kamwanyi, a slum in Nsambya, a Kampala suburb.

She has challenges in her home whereby she takes care of all the responsibilities at home like paying school fees for her children, feeding the family yet she has no source of income.

Because of the challenges in her home, Veronica said that one time, she was forced to join the Pentecostal church near her home, just to get school fees sponsorship for her children. She was given a condition of first accepting to get saved then after they give her a helping hand on her children. ’ But I remembered the sacraments and the commitments that I made to God when I was still young. I promised never to go back there, I decided to pray for God’s mercy on my family…..said Veronica.

She showed us the pictures of Mother Mary, the sacred heart of Jesus and other Catholic pictures & Statues in her house. Veronica said that when she is in tough times, she kneels down before them and presents her burdens; God helps her always

Veronica said that, she had a job where she was getting something little to take care of her family, unfortunately, two weeks back she was suspended.

She is now searching for another employment opportunity, so that she can be able to take good care of her family.

According to Veronica, the husband has failed to take up his responsibility as the head of the family. He resorted to drinking, comes back home in the wee hours.

Veronica also shared with us her burden, she is not legally married in church with her husband, and this is affecting her capability to hold a position in church, yet she is a capable leader.

She said that they have talked about it but the husband seems not to care, all he says, he has no money to wed her in church.

Veronica also said that, they do not have time to pray together as a family. We urged her to encourage her family members to pray together as a family especially the Rosary Prayer. We gave her some Rosaries for her family members and emphasized to her to put their trust in Mother Mary as a family.

We prayed with her and encouraged her to join our Peyton Prayer Guild for Adoration every Monday at 3pm at Nsambya Catholic Church, to pray for all the challenges in her family.
