Requiem mass at Nsambya Parish.

The month of November is said to be the month of praying for the departed souls and all souls in purgatory. As our routine here at Holy Cross Family ministries East Africa, we utilize this month and organize a requiem mass to pray for God's mercy on the souls of the departed loved ones of  Peyton Prayer Guild members, friends of the ministry and our team at large.

Names of the deceased are written on the paper and put in the basket before the altar, next to candles that the Christians light as they pray for the souls of their departed loved ones.

The names in the basket are blessed with Holy water by the celebrant.

On 16th November 2015 at around 2:45pm we held a requiem mass at St. Peters Catholic parish Nsambya and the main celebrant was Fr. Ssebyala from Mazolidi helped by our Director, Fr. Leonard Olobo.

In his homily, he urged Christians to always pray for the departed souls and souls in purgatory because they really need our prayers, for God's mercy on their souls.

He added that, as we love them when still alive let us also love them after their death and we pray for them to wish them eternal life and be forgiven where they went wrong. It's God's wish for us to have eternity.

Fr. Joseph  said that, as Mother Mary loves us her children, let us also love each other and send our prayers to those who have died before us, for God's mercy on their souls.
Christians who participated were given a chance to light  candles in memory of their departed loved ones before the altar.

The names of the departed were blessed with the Holy Water as a sign of cleansing their souls.

We concluded at Nsambya cemetery and also prayed for the souls there.

Eternal Rest Grant onto them oh Lord, and may the perpetual light shine upon
