Youth workshop at Mulago Parish

We conducted a 1 day youth workshop at Mulago Parish Kampala ,Uganda (Mulago Institute) on 7th February 2016.

The program was organized by Nakulabye Deanery and all the youth from the parishes under this deanery were expected to attend the workshop, but only 4 parishes participated out of the 7 parishes. At least 150 youth participated.

Our role at the workshop was to teach these youth about sexuality in general (biblical teachings, dangers of abortion then prayer)

Desire came in with Human sexuality whereby she said that God created man and woman to pro-create but human beings have turned it into another way.

She added that when we go wrong and realize our mistakes, it is good to always repent our sins because God is so merciful and ready to forgive us.

Kimera encouraged the youth who are cohabiting to start preparations for the wedding and receive the sacrament of matrimony.

He also urged those that are not married to protect themselves for the future husbands and wives, to avoid going from one man or woman to another.

Ojambo taught the youth the dangers of abortion, here he encouraged them not to try abortion because it is a sin before God. He added that having sex is some one’s decision so there is no need for removing the innocent soul.

He appealed to the youth to respect their bodies because they are God’s temple, so they have to reflect his presence in them.

Ojambo said that most of the time abortion leads to a spiritual bondage especially when you get married in future.

He added that it also leads to inner wounds which need spiritual healing. He further more said that it can also lead to barrenness.

The Director, Fr. Leonard Olobo, CSC cautioned the youth not to abort in case they are raped. He urged them to keep the baby because it’s a gift from God, so they have to seek for counseling in order to overcome the trauma and receive healing so that the innocent soul stays alive.

Prayer being was first priority here at Holy Cross Family Ministries East-Africa, Ssenabulya taught the youth the types of prayer, the importance of prayer and how to pray.

He as well encouraged the youth to pray together as a family because ‘’A Family That Prays Together Stays Together”.

We concluded the workshop with a Eucharist celebration conducted by Fr. Leonard Olobo who in his homily urged the youth to sensitize the knowledge they received in the workshop to others.
