We participated in the prayer moment at St. Matia Mulumba Catholic Parish Old Kampala.
It happens at the end of the month, and this time around 20 people turned up for the day.
Holy Cross Family Ministries led praise and worship and the participants were joyful.
The theme of the day was “A glad heart lights up the face but by mental anguish the spirit is broken (Proverbs 15:13).
The main speaker was Mrs. Florence Ndode who started by asking the participants, why some of them did not come with their spouses?
Some said they had gone to work, wives said husbands deliberately refused to come for prayers and husbands said they left their wives at home taking care of the children.
She said that it’s important to come as a couple for marriage programmes because when both learn and listen together, hence take an action, which is not the case with one person learning, because it’s hard to teach the other.
Mrs.Florence Ndodhe talking to the participants at Old Kampala.
She added that it’s important that as a couple to walk together in body, spirit and soul because this is God’s ultimate plan to be this way.
Following the theme of the day, Mrs. Florence said that, now days it’s easy to differentiate a happy couple from a sad one. If a married couple’s happy it’s beneficial to both and people around them. But if they are sad it becomes a problem to them and more so to the people around them especially the immediate family that’s to say their children.
Married couples should know that they are living witness to Christ’s love to the church.
She added that sadness in marriage slowly kills the people around, the married couples and at home. Things that destroy marriages and home come from deep with the married couples and result into bad behavior in the home like anger.
She said that as married couples, it’s not good to create a gap between your selves because the enemy is ready to sabotage into that gap hence a divorce.
Florence gave married couples a way forward to a happy marriage, is to search for God in our hearts because God calls us to do this.
She said that the best way to search for God is through ‘’prayer’’ and this will bind us together hence ‘’A Family That Prays Together Stays Together’’.
She also added that prayer enables us to be in God (John 15:7-8), we are able to remain in God and bare fruits which attract our spouses and others to invite God in our lives.
Florence said that as humans, God gave us an intellect that helps us analyze the cause of the problem we face in our marriages and families.
It’s very important to know that there’s time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-15).
The programme closed with a prayer, they prayed for each other for God’s intervention during challenges and problems in their marriages.
